Is an STD test importnat even if there are no symptoms?
Yes. There are many STDs that will not have noticeable signs and symptoms. You should get tested to know your status.
Are all STDs transmitted through sex only?
All STDS can be transmitted through sexual contact but some can also be spread through other means.

Are Cold Sores the same as Herpes?
Most people refer to oral herpes which is caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 as cold sores. This is based on the sores the virus causes around the lips or mouth. You can get herpes through kissing and sharing utensils and other personal items such as toothbrushes.
Is HIV the same as Aids?
No. HIV refers the infection while AIDS is the most advanced stage of HIV. Though the virus is the same, they are different conditions.
Is Chlamydia the same as Gonorrhea?
Is is possible to get Oral Herpes on my genitals or Genital Herpes on my lip?
Yes. Though oral herpes is mainly caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 and genital herpes is mainly caused by herpes simplex virus type 2, there are cases of HSV-1 causing genital herpes and HSV-2 causing oral herpes.

If you are going for a urine test, avoid urinating an hour before the test. Generally, there are no specific preparations for the test.
Taking The STD Test FAQ
How long do I have to wait for the STD test after ordering?
When you receive your order form and the test code, you are ready to take the test. You can access the order form online. If the order delays, contact us.
Where can I get tested for STDs?
You can get tested at any of our 4500 testing centers nationwide. Enter your location and you will get a list of centers near you. Find an STD center near you.
Do I need an appointment to get an STD test?
It is not a must you make an appointment. However, if you would like to take the test fast, you can call us for an appointment.
How long will have to stay at the testing center?
You will just be in the lab for a few minutes- typically less than 5. You just walk in, give the sample and walk out.
What should I expect when there are ‘Delays’?
In case of any delays, you might have to wait because the center needs more time. However, you will still get tested.
Will the people at the lab know why I am there?
Our testing centers test for many conditions and no one will know why you are there.
STD Results FAQ
When will I know my results?
Most STD results will be available after 1 or 2 days. Some, like Trichomoniasis and HIV RNA may take an extra day because of the process involved
How can I view my results?
You will have an online account where you can view your STD results. If you choose not to be contacted when ordering, you will have to contact us to get your results.
Can the live chat representative check my results?
No. We strive to maintain confidentiality and this means that our representatives will not access your results for you. Our care advisors will, however, check your results for you
What if the results come back positive?
If your results come back positive, you can pay for consultation fees and a prescription. The prescription can be available at your local pharmacy. You can also get a prescription for your partner at an additional cost.

There is a “pay later” option that allows you to get tested without paying. To get your results, you will have pay.
Will KnowMyStatus.life take insurance?
Unfortunately, we do not accept insurance. This is to make sure that your medical information stays confidential.
What is KnowMyStatus.life cancellation policy?
It is possible to cancel an order any time before you visit the testing center. You will get a refund without 20% for the cancellation. If the cancellation is 21 days after the order, you will get credit for a future test.
